Keraniganj and Nawabganj (Dhaka) upazilas on the north, Lohajang and Shibchar upazilas on the south, Serajdikhan and Lohajang upazilas on the east, Nawabganj, Dohar and Sadarpur upazilas on the west.

Sreenagar thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 14 union parishads, 102 mouzas and 147 villages.
